Can Stress Be Our Friend?

Raise your hand if you’ve ever been stressed. So basically every single person in the entire world could raise their hand right now. Generally, we associate stress with negative feelings and for good reason. First, we think about all the anxiety and overwhelming emotions that creep into our minds when we are stressed. Then, we realize how much we need to do and how little time we have. And finally, we get stressed because we are thinking about how much stress we have. But is that a bad thing or a good thing?

Kelly McGonigal discusses her theory that stress is only bad if you think it is. Enlightening, huh? In fact, McGonigal offers up her thoughts on how we can change the way our mind thinks about and processes stress. Check out her TED Talk:
